Superintendent's Message

May 2012

People often reminisce at the end of a calendar year. For me it occurs as we get near the end of the school year.  Graduation announcements begin to arrive in mailboxes, kindergartners are getting taller, fifth graders are planning for their transition to middle school, and eighth graders are preparing for high school.  This time of year makes me sentimental.  I look at each child and think about all they have learned and all they have yet to learn.  I look at our teaching and support staff and think about the many things they loved about their students, “their class.”  I look at our administrative staff and think about all they hope to accomplish over the summer and next year.  I look at parents and think about how excited they are to have a relaxed summer schedule and time to spend with their children without the challenges of home work and school events.

Simultaneously, I think about next year for our children and their learning.  I also think about how we, our school district and community, need to prepare our “…next generation for greatness.”  This comes from working together, having meaningful conversations about what we believe and why, and focusing on the future of our community – our children.

Each and every person in our school district has a voice and we need to hear that voice in a way that moves us forward; in a way that provides hope and inspiration for our children.  Together, we make a difference!
