Riverside Special ServicesRiverside School District provides Specially Designed Instruction for students who qualify for special education from the time they are born until age 21. Highly qualified teachers, therapists, and paraeducators provide students with the focused instruction they need to reach their full educational and personal potential.
Services include Communications Disorder Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Vision Therapy, Behavior Intervention, and Specially Designed Academic Instruction. Students are served either individually or in groups, depending upon their needs as determined by a diagnostic team using information from specific assessment instruments. Teachers and/or parents or guardians may refer students for assessment. Assessments are administered by professionals certified in their specialties.
When a student qualifies for services, an Individual Educational Plan is prepared for the student and approved by the parents and the teachers and specialists involved. Records of progress toward goals are maintained and reviewed at least annually. Special Education services may be accessed by talking with the student’s teacher, building principal, or Special Education Director.
