All Riverside High School & Middle School students will receive a Chromebook that they can use at school during the day.  Grades 7-8 take their device home at night.

To receive your Chromebook, three things must happen:
  1. The student takes a short Chromebook Boot Camp class in Canvas
  2. The parent accepts or declines the RSD Assurance Plan (online via Skyward)
  3. The parent pays for the RSD Assurance Plan (online via Skyward)
                  $30
                  $20 for Reduced Lunch
                  $10 for Free Lunch

Log into Skyward to fill out the RSD Assurance Plan and to pay online.

RSD Assurance Plan:  Log onto Skyward.  Click Online Forms and follow the prompts.

Pay Online:  Log onto Skyward.  Click Food Service > Make a Payment > Log onto eFunds.

Choose Pay for Optional Fees and then look for:  TECH ASSURANCE PLAN

You may also come to the office to pay if you do not want to pay online.

Note:  If you feel that your fee should be $20 or $10 and you see $30 listed, please come to the office and we will check your Free/Reduced paperwork before you submit a payment.

Once the three items above have been completed you may come to the IT Office in the high school before/after school, or during lunch to receive your Chromebook!

**After the first two students have paid, the 3rd and all additional children living in the same household are automatically opted in and considered full participants in the RSD Assurance Program at no additional charge.**

RIVERSIDE IS A 1:1 DISTRICT

All 6-12 grade students are issued a Chromebook.

What is Canvas?

Canvas is the name of the Riverside’s online learning management system that is being utilized at the Middle School, High School, ISP & RAC. It is a rich tool that will help teachers provide a one-stop online shop to enhance student learning opportunities. Students are automatically enrolled into their classes, or courses in Canvas jargon, and parents can be Observers of those courses.

Parents can sign up for a free account in order to view the resources and activities posted in their child’s courses that are available on Canvas.  Note that you cannot create an account on a mobile device. You must first set this up on a PC or Laptop/Chromebook.

Click HERE for instructions on setting up a Observer account.
Some Internet Options

While the District cannot recommend an Internet provider, we can provide a list of what is available in our area.  The list is provided in no particular order.

FREE Internet is always available outside of the high school.  Simply connect your wireless device to the network called, HOMEWORK.

In order to protect the devices from damage, the School Board has approved an Assurance Program that works much like the insurance policy for your car.  Using existing, proven programs from districts across Washington and Oregon, the IT Department created an Assurance Program based on a student’s Free/Reduced lunch status.  For as little as $10 a year, a student can be covered from accidental damage to their computer device.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Riverside IT Director, Melissa Vandendriessche @ 509-464-8583.

We have a process and criteria to evaluate digital tools to ensure that we comply with State Law (RCW 28A.604). The Digital Tool Review process exists to offer guidance around the selection of digital tools that are safe to use with students and align with Riverside's strategic plan goals and foundations.

Before using a digital tool with students or families, please review the criteria and the list of reviewed tools. If it is not on the list, please submit the tool for review by the committee.
